It is argued that when parents are at work, the close relations provide the best care to young children, while others think that childcare centers are a better option. While relatives can usually be trusted with children, I believe that the centers have a professional who trained well to take care of the child.
On the one hand, working parents who work 12 hours per a day prefer to put their babies with trusted hands, such as grandparents or siblings. This is because they know the child well and they take good care. For example, in South Africa a woman worker claimed that there are no trusted centers other than her parents to take care of her young daughter. However, I think not all relatives have the time and know how to provide care for young children as the professionals do in the care offices.
On the other hand, the daycare centers offer a high attention for children of preschool age and many working parents rely on them. This is to say that these centers have a trained employee who has the knowledge and skills to meet the child’s needs every minute. For instance, in the United Kingdom there are a lot of childcare centers and the mother and father of one child said that this center gives health care for their boy when he faints due to the shortage of sleeping. For this reason, I believe that it is better that the children left in the care of these centers are better looked after.
In conclusion, although some parents might prefer the bond of trust inherent within a family when choosing a caregiver for their children, this essay finds that the children are better off under the care of daycare centers due to their staff’s professional trained and experience.
