Currently there is ongoing debate about whether governments should focus on domestic matters more or whether addressing global issues is more important. In my opinion, the first opinion is more acceptable due to multiple reasons, although I understand why tackling global issues is necessary.
On the one hand, some believe that solving global issues is a necessary thing for government. From one perspective, participation in addressing global issues such as pandemics is important. This is due to the fact that if they ignore it, they can suffer further consequences themselves. Thus, it is important to participate in addressing global problems. Moreover, involvement in global problems and helping to solve them can be useful for the relationship between countries. This happens because during assistance, countries build strong relationships and diplomatic ties. Therefore, the country’s reputation will improve all over the world due to the help.
On the other hand, others, including me, hold the view that focusing on domestic matters is more important. Conversely, education, and health care spheres help to keep the harmony among the country’s population. A major justification for this is that people wait for the development in these spheres from the government. If a country struggles with a poor education system or high unemployment, solving these problems should be their top priority. Besides, the infrastructure also plays an important role in the life of the population. This is largely because improving infrastructure and the transportation industry helps boost the local economy. Consequently, the quality of life in the country becomes better.
To conclude, whether governments should focus on domestic matters or participation in solving global issues is more important. Although the government should participate in addressing global problems to prevent suffering from further consequences, I believe that if a country struggles with poverty or unemployment, these problems should be top priorities.
