Some people argue that large companies should protect the environment while other people say that individuals should make an effort to protect the environment for our cause.
I think it’s not only the major companies’ responsibility to save the environment but also we, as individuals, need to take actions and make a plan for our planet. One good reason is that individuals can easily reduce the use of products, which have negative impacts for the environment. Another reason is that public places also overuse environmentally harmful products that is hazardous not only to the people but also for the community.
Some people might think that major companies have this influential power to help in the conservation of the environment because they have the capacity to do so in terms of their annual revenue. Major companies generate a lot of income from the sales coming from people which makes them capable of doing projects that will help the environment. For example, Patagonia donated a percentage of their sales to environmental causes. Other companies like IKEA started sourcing sustainable wood and cotton.
On the other hand, other individuals say that environmental issues should be managed by people individually. They believe that individual’s action is the most effective way to reduce global warming because individual efforts can be easily seen, felt and executed rather than doing collaborative efforts done by most big companies. A good example is when people try to use eco-bags when shopping to reduce the use of plastics. Also, when families try to recycle reusable plastic utensils whenever they eat on fast-food chains like McDonalds.
To recapitulate, both viewpoints have their own plausible causes for conserving our environment. However, I think if both individuals and big corporations cooperate to take action together, the impacts on the environment will improve significantly.
