In today’s world, it is common for parents to control their children’s lives in any aspect. While some individuals advocate for parents’ right in friend choices, others contend that this decision is up to young people. In my opinion, it is totally normal for parents to care about the social life of their child, however some limitations may be imposed.
Firstly, it is important to note that the leading cause for this matter is general concern for one’s own offsprings. Moreover, parents, as it befits adults, have more understanding in life than young ones and it is appropriate for them to consider their wellbeing. As a conscious individual, they understand the significance of carefulness in friendships. On top of that, kids, due to little experience in life, may make mistakes. For example, run into people with harmful influences, forcing bad habits.
On the other hand, opponents claim that younger generations should have freedom to choose their own surroundings. In other words, it is significant for the young to make decisions individually, for the fact that in the future it will help to be independent. This highlights the idea of significance of learning by mistakes, and establishing relationships or boundaries. For example, if adults interfere in their children’s decision-making, they eventually may become too dependent and rely on others.
Personally, I believe the role of adult parenting in children’s life is extremely important. A major contributing factor is the proper raising in every aspect. In spite of this, excessive control risks to raise a reliant person. To prevent this unpleasant situation, it would be better to give a right to choose independently, while managing the possible consequences.
