Due to rapid development in technology, there has been a constant debate on the topic of reduction in human workforce. While some believe machines will replace manual labour leading to rise in unemployment, other disagree. This essay will examine both perspectives before presenting my opinion on the matter.
On the positive side, rise of machine learning and robotics are allowing organizations to meet the demand of the growing population. Earlier companies used to invest a large sum of money and time in manual labour to meet their demands but now technology revolution promotes a cost and time effective solution with less room of human error. For example, with the installation of self-checkout devices at grocery store individuals can skip the long queues at the supermarket. As a result, stores can serve more customers in less time, which was not possible with a human effort.
However, the trend of robotics over taking the jobs of people has negative impact on the economic development of nation. The rise in unemployment has affected the purchasing power of an individual, which has a detrimental effect in the long run. Moreover, many people experience feelings of frustration and anxiety which eventually lead them to severe mental health condition.
In my opinion, I agree till certain extent that advancement of the nation should not come at the expense of an individual’s health. The organizations should incorporate use of machines for their daily operations but they should find proper balance to incorporate human labor. By providing employment opportunity will help to overcome the problems like inflation and to maintain economic stability of the nation.
