Band 6+: some people believe government should spend money on building train and subway lines to reduce traffic congestion . others thing that building more and wider roads is the better way to reduce traffic congestion.

It is argued that the government should include budget on building trains and subway lines to ease traffic congestion, while some people often believe that construction of more and wider road infrastructure is the ultimate solution to reduce the exixting traffic problems. In my opinion, it is better to spend money on building trains and subway lines as this establishment can help achieve the best possible outcome.

On the one hand, government’s expenditure on constructing trains and subway line can play as a significant role to remove or ease traffic congestion in densely populated cities. Firstly, trains and subway lines are the best possible alternative transporting system to other reguler transports. Normally in metropolitan cities, we tend to see that there are lots of unlicenced buses, private cars breaking traffic laws on the roads. As a result, thousands of accidents take place and thus, heavy traffic occurs in the road. So, the facility of introducing trains and subway lines wouild be not only the alternative transporting systems but also the improvements of public amenities, as it helps relieve pressure on public transpors im major cities. Secondly, when a government takes a initiative to construct metro rails, then people can easily go to their workplaces, as it is less time consuming. It can easily be exemplified by the metro rail project in the capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka. Lots of people are using this transport in their daily life, therefore the traffic problem of dhaka is much less concerning compared to recent years.

On the other hand, some people think that it would be more fruitful if the government take the project of building more and wider road as a solution of traffic congestion. This initiative cand diminish overcrowding on the roads due to the increasing number of vehicles. For example, there are many roads in Dhaka, where traffic problems are much common due to the narrow size. So, it would bring some benefit if the government implement some policies regarding the widening of roads or building more roads.

To wrap up, although it is believed that developing more and wider roads is the better solution to traffic congestion, I think government should emphasise on allocating more budget on building trains and subway lines because it is less time consuming for citizens and it would be an alternative to other vehicles such as busses, private cars etc.
