People hold different views about the number of measures to prevent crime. While some people argue that more actions are needed to prevent crime, others believe few of them are enough. I, on my part, believe there are more important issues than taking actions to reduce crime.
The position of the former group can be reasoned with the following argument. As for them, crime is the most significant problem that should be addressed because crime rate is increasing day by day. Nowadays a number of people are becoming the victim of cyberbullying since they do not know how to sort out the information they get from the internet and whom to trust, as a consequence, they lose a high amount of their money because of cyber theft. Preventing this kind of crimes, obviously, demands a lot of effort, attention and significant amount of fund because people should be informed about such kind of offences so that they do not get scammed.
The members of the latter group, however, have their own reason to justify their position. According to them, laws and punishments are enough to regulate the people in the country which means there is no need to take extra measures, on the contrary, there are other issues like education we should pay attention to. If governments try to improve their education system it will be beneficial for both sides since the more educated people are, the less likely they are to commit a crime.
As for my point of view, it will be more effective if governments care more about other fields like education, health care and environmental problems than preventing crimes. Because in today’s world it is easier to find criminals thanks to technological advancements as there are security cameras in every step we take which can, at the same time, reduces the need for further actions. For example, when someone is kidnapped, the suspect can be found within short time and punished.
In conclusion, although people’s positions over the number of actions to prevent crime vary, I am convinced that there are several significant issues that should be addressed except for crime.
