The idea of putting a year gap between school and university continues to be controversial, and there are valid opinions on both sides, and I will discuss them now.
On one hand, supporters of the gab think that students can read and collect information about different specialties and try to know all the negatives and positives of them to be able to choose the most appropriate field for them. Beside that, people can get benefit from this year to improve their social skills, which can help them a lot in dealing with their teachers and colleagues at university. In addition to this, some students work during this period to collect money and help their parents with university funds. While others can take it as a break after a hard high school journey to relax and prepare themselves to a new, different academic journey.
On the other hand, opponents believe that this gab is a waste of time . They added there many un predictable circumstances that extend studying years at university And students graduate in old ages and that affects their job opportunities so taking a gab year worsen the situation. Also, they think that most of the students who work during this year are rarely entering university because because making money at this period decrease their excitement and change their view to continue studying.
To conclude, in my opinion, a year off is very useful in acquiring new skills and experiences that are invaluable in the future. Of course, if this year is planned carefully, it will be very worthwhile and rewarding.
