Band 5+: Some people believe that a person's character is shaped by their upbringing, while others argue that it is influenced more by life experiences. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

People’s personality is a mysterious phenomenon. The humanity still does not have the united opinion about a person’s character. Some individuals believe that personality is developed by events in life. Others consider that our characteristics were born with us, they cannot be chosen or cultivated.

To my mind, these points of views both can be truth. For example, many teenagers can be influenced by bad behavior of their peers. This kid can be born and raised in rich respectful family, but the negative impact from other young people can be terribly huge for this individual. Unfortunately, parents often cannot control this process, so many kids can be “lost”. In addition, there is an opposite example, when a kid from unwell family can find supportive friends, a nice partner. These people can show a positive behavior model that will change a person’s life.

On the other hand, the society deeply believes that genetics can play a great role in people’s personality. If parents were addicted and poorly educated, they children can have a very sad “heritage”. However, I cannot say that I agree with this opinion. Kids’ personality is mostly defined not by genetics, but their environment. Nevertheless, in all situations can be exceptions, but my experience says that not all troubled people are from bad families, but all lovely people are from good families.

In conclusion, people’s characteristics are undiscovered mystery. Scientists still discuss this topic and try to find answers. However, I am sure that everybody is a complicated painting with many colors, people cannot be defined by one word, when they are poems.
