In the contemporary world, it is widely argued that marketing and promotion will lead to harmful consequences, and further, they lead to overbuying, while others think that it is beneficial to enhance the standard of living. Today, advertising plays a crucial role in human purchasing behaviour, and individuals inevitably have a plethora of positive outcomes.
To begin with, the over-promotion of some products prompts consumers to buy more products that are not necessarily important to them, even if they cannot afford them. However, it broadly depends on the buyer’s viewpoint and purchasing power. On the contrary, more advertisements help consumers understand product details and create a competitive environment that benefits them in choosing a good product. For instance, the Oral-B brand actively promotes its campaign to target oral sensitivity issues.
Additionally, the digital platforms, which are widely used by companies, not only enhance the consumer reach but also make them aware of the variety and product availability. Digital advertisements have become a prevalent phenomenon that leverages the internet to design advertisements that influence individual mindsets. Furthermore, it enhances individuals’ standard of living by choosing the right product at the right time. For example, earlier we did not bring a travel kit, but nowadays, multiple options are available to organise our essential items in one kit.
In my opinion, over-advertising and its harmful effects to buy more products largely depend on individual choices and their budget, but the proliferation of marketing enhances competition and awareness of product features that are ultimately advantageous for consumers.
