Some individuals assert that economic development is the only method to alleviate hunger and poverty, while others believe that economic growth should be stopped due to it causes environmental degradation. This essay will discuss both opinions before proposing my perspective on this matter.
On the one hand, economic development can cause severe consequences for environmental resources and wildlife habitats. Specifically, when people extracts natural resources such as coal and petroleum, they often tend to deforestation and drilling in sensitive ecosystems. Over time, this may pose a threat to creatures in the forest, shrinking animal’s habitat or even deplete crucial resources for human’s life. Beyond this consequence, economic transformation also leads to enormous greenhouse gas emissions. For example, industrial factories, transportations and construct new economic facilities are often emit vast amount of smoke and carbon footprints. As a result, it can effects on human’s green space, wildlife habitat or even contribute to global-scale issue such as global warming.
However, I would contend that the benefits offered by economic advancement are clear and undeniable. Firstly, it plays a key role in enhancing living standard for people. As economy is improved, people can access to better healthcare facilities, prestigious educational institutions and cutting-edge science filed. Therefore, it can promote collective well-being, enhance people’s awareness and especially reduce the rate of illiterate. Moreover, economic upturn also offers more job opportunities to people. This is because economic growth alway links to international integration, and developed countries inclined to support other allied countries in different domains. For example, Viet Nam attracts numerous multinational corporations across the world thank to its borders, and creates a million on jobs for people. Thus, economic development not only lifts living standard , but it also supports individuals to have stable jobs, which is important for higher quality of life.
In summary, although economic advancement may lead to some environmental problems, I firmly believe that it is play a critically important in developing individual’s life.
