In the contemporary era, global integration has been demonstrated to fade some cultures in big countries, having more influence on economic growth, will be considered as the main cultures around the world. From the writer’s experience, this opinion is right because of the diversity of cultures and the language shifts it brings to enormous countries.
On one hand, it can not be denied that globalization has been bringing various cultures from all over the world to countries, meaning that it can dilute some aspects of local cultures. This is due to the fact that the young generation, who always approach global trends through both education and technology, could prioritize modern and international cultural expressions over their heritage. As a result, this generational shift has been gradually weakening the transmission of traditional customs from the elders to the youth.
One reason why globalization is contributing to the decline of small cultures is the change in the use of language. As global languages such as English become more prevalent in education, business, and communication, native languages are increasingly neglected and gradually declining. There is no denying that language is a core carrier of culture, its erosion can lead to diminishing cultural uniqueness. As a consequence, if traditions and customs from the past fell into oblivion, young people would attach exaggerated importance to the new ones.
In conclusion, global integration has a negative impact on traditional customs and cultural practices by the variety of cultures, and the language change.
