There is an ongoing debate whether unique traditions and identities are lost because of globalization, whereas others suggest that globalization makes people more connected. Despite the fact that both view make sense, I lean towards the idea that people are getting integrated through the effect of globalization.
To begin with, globalization influence on loss of local cultures and identities. While historical development, some ethnic groups lost their traditions and cultures because of the nationalist and oppressed policy of nation states. For instance, kurdish people suffered from ethnically excluding under the government of Turkiye and they initiated terrorist movements to keep their traditions and cultural background. This stems from the fact that globalization was unable to linger this process.
On the other hand, others argue that globalization helps people to integrate. I truly believe that the effect of social media has significant impact on sharing the same idea and ideology. Despite the fact that some traditions anf cultures could be lost, we should also consider it that some of those traditions are outdated and they will gradually integrate with modern world’s standards. Furthermore, social media and other tools, such as AI gains popularity nowadays and contribute to the initial step of cosmopolitan world. Moreover, this can be attributed that human rights and other universal moral approaches have the same mission due to creating common and mix culture and traditions for better prospect.
Ultimately, while some people argue that globalization negatively affects on cultures and identities, I believe that positive sides of globalization outweigh negatives and contribute to better society with tolerant approach.
