According to some in society, it would be better to prohibit homework in schools. However, I completely disagree with this idea because doing homework helps students reinforce their knowledge and learn new things.
At the outset, homework should not be banned in schools because it helps to reinforce what students learn in class and promotes better retention of the material. The first point I want to mention is that many concepts learned during class may be incomplete due to time constraints or the complexity of the topic. Homework can serve as a way to finish the lesson that couldn’t be completed in class. For example, specialized schools often teach subjects in greater depth, and as a result, the standard teaching system might not be sufficient. These schools may need to assign plenty of homework to reinforce students’ understanding.
That being said, it would also be fair to acknowledge that homework should not be imposed excessively, as it can cause unnecessary stress on students, especially since they may have twelve or more subjects to study. Many students dislike school because of the pressure of homework, which could contribute to negative feelings toward learning. Therefore, schools should consider this issue carefully. However, if a student is genuinely interested in learning, they may complete their homework without needing to be forced.
In conclusion, while banning homework entirely may not be the best solution, it would be beneficial if the amount of homework were reduced.
