People have different views when it comes to the right of animals. While some people posit that their rights should be protected due to ethical concerns, others feel it is a waste of fund and at such should be used for human benefits. This essay will discuss both views as well as why I believe they should be preserved.
Those who support the exploitation of animals argue that influxes of funds earmarked for preservation is a waste of resources as humans are in dire need of the benefits proferred by commerce involving the animals. Indeed, they claim animals have been able to survive this long despite humans exploiting them with only a few going into extinction. In many places in Africa, for example, the populace depend on animals as sources of income through selling their meat, using their hides and skin for shoes and clothing and so on. As a result, they have been able to provide their basic needs despite the poverty they face. Although preservation may offer some benefits, it will ultimately make it difficult to make ends meet in that geographical location.
Others, however, myself included believe that despite the advantages derived from using those animals for economic purposes, they should still be preserved. Because of the numerous difficulty these animals face, through capturing, rearing and slaughtering, they should be allowed to leave a free life without endangering them for moral purposes. Moreover, alternate sources of income could be provided for the local populace through education in order for them to take white collar jobs to prevent them from abusing animal rights and provide means of sustenance.
In conclusion, this essay discussed the different views people have with regards to protection of animals and why I personally believe that they should be protected despite the perceived benefit received from their exploitation.
