Some are of the opinion that it is more beneficial for students to work prior to attending university, while the rest argue that students should enroll at university outright after completing high school. In my opinion, although working before attending can bring certain benefits, I believe it is advisable to enter university on the spot after finishing high school.
Working before attending university is advantageous to some extent owing to the knowledge and experience students will accumulate throughout their working period. Working prior to attending university can help students broaden their horizons. For example, many students intending to take part in business classes in university in the future who work at shops can excel at convincing consumers, boosting revenues and bringing them higher experience in dealing with buyers later on if they plan to set up their own businesses. Moreover, by frequently communicating with customers, such students will be able to socialise and be more communicative, a characteristic that many CEOs look for.
However, I believe that after high school, students should instantaneously enroll at university since social knowledge from working is significant but high academic expertise can help them work more efficiently and wisely. As a whole, many occupations require not only experience but a wide range of academic knowledge and are mostly based on the latter. If 2 people apply for the same job, one with working experience as a high school student and one with an excellent CV, the employer would most likely to recruit the one with an admirable CV due to the fact that academic achievements will prove our prospects more reliable as we can tackle problems related to maths, physics more effortlessly than using experience.
In conclusion, while looking for a job before attending university can bring about some advantages, it is best to pursue higher education – university – immediately after finishing high school.
