People have different views about keeping animals in zoos. The issue of whether or not animals should be kept in zoos has grown over the past few decades. While there are disadvantages to keeping animals, I personaly believe that zoos can be educational and environmentally important.
On the one hand, many commentators justifiably argue that there are advantages to keeping animals in zoos. From their point of view, they believe that it is a helpful way to protect endangered species. For example, In china, zoos take special care of giant pandas due to their vulnerable status. They provide air-conditioned indoor habitats and outdoor cooling features like caves, pools, and shady spot to mimic the pandas natural environment. It is also maintained that from an educational perspective children learn to appreciate that wildlife and nature. Moreover, zoos are interesting and fun to making a great day out with family members. Therefore, both children and people benefit from zoos such as scientists have easy access to study animal’s behaviour.
On the other hand, there are those who subscribe to the view that keeping animals in zoos has several drawbacks. They argue that animals lose their instinct to hunt for food. It would also be better to save endangered species by protecting their natural habitats. However, I do not find this argument convincing due to the fact that environmental destruction and hunt in jungles, has made their habitats a dangerous place to stay. Besides they are more likely to eat residue of humans and any plastic or waste.
In my personal opinion, although keeping animals might have some disadvantages, the merits are more prominent as preserving animals and being availbale for people who want to study them and have fun.
