In this modernized world, the way of learning is becoming a highly debatable topic. Some think private tutoring benefits more than being taught with other students in a class. This essay will examine both sides of the argument and explain why I think studying in a group teaching is more advantageous with merits like increasing a solid understanding of the topics by exchanging opinions about the task and having a competition.
To begin with, some argue that in adaptive education, the teacher only focuses on a person, finds out his/her mistakes, and assists in correcting their misunderstandings. Therefore, in these lessons, the time spent on teaching is greater than checking homework since many students complain that in group lessons, the teachers allocate most of their time to reviewing homework and have little time to teach a new topic. Moreover, while participating in one-to-one lessons, a student does not have to follow the speed of other learners’ learning, he/she will only depend on his/her pace of learning. For this reason, he/she can correct his/her mistakes and will be taught more times if he/she does not understand.
On the other hand, the merits that are offered by group learning are more essential. Firstly, when students acquire knowledge with a team with other individuals they can share their thoughts about the topics and not be shy of each other as everyone’s level of learning is similar. Furthermore, while grasping some skills, especially languages, students are recommended to work in pairs which makes learning a lot more interesting than being alone in a class. Secondly, the most beneficial side of this gaining knowledge is having an opportunity to compete with other learners which encourages people to study more.
To sum up, although being in adaptive education indeed has several advantages, I believe that learning a class with other students is more productive.
