Nowadays, environmental damage and pollution resulting from rapid econimic development have become a widely discussed issues. I believe that if governments and citizens cooperate they can prevent these problems by striking a balance between economic growth and environmental protection. Therefore, I partially agree with this statement.
On the one hand, in an era of rapid economic development, governments tend to construct factories as more as possible because mass production is key driver to a country’s development. Moreover, the manufacturing sector is an important source of employment. For example, if a government builds a large number of factories, the country can produce more goods, which can boost its trade and contribute to economic development. Furthermore, citizens can find employment, resulting in improved living conditions across the country.
On the other hand, we should consider that these factories release a large amounts of harmful gases and emissions which can have a detrimental impact on individuals’ health. However, governments can organise events aimed at raising environmental awarenesses, protecting green places and planting more trees. Consequently, both governments and citizens of this country can contribute to sustainable development of their country. For example, citizens could plant trees around their houses at weekends and taking part in clean-up communities as trees absorb carbon dioxide thereby helping to improve quality of air.
In conclusion, although large factories can cause environmental damages and pollution, governments and citizens can prevent these issues by cooperating and taking part in environmental initiatives like such as planting trees and protecting green spaces.
