Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

A group of individuals hold a view that schoolers should be involved in extracurricular activities in their spare time after the lessons. It brings about several benefits along with, however, I argue that there is a drawback as well, and these justifiable reasons will be discussed in following paragraphs.

On one hand, I accept that being engaged in social activities out of school helps schoolers to spend their free time quality. Since adolescents are prone to going astray, this method will likely be the best way to maintain them swamped. Thus, they will not be able to get involved in wrong ones due to the availability of time. Furthermore, it should also be highlighted that it is particularly recommendable way to develop mandatory skills on them. Social work can be helpful for learners to acquire practical skills such as leadership, problem-solving and communication. As workforce market are competitive than it was before, they will need these soft skills in their future career as well.

On the other hand, time constraints can be result in them to fall behind the lessons if it does not manage properly by them. High academic performance requires consistency and focus on studies that students should keep up their lessons. Unless they are able to make their education and activities in balance, it will lead to undesirable consequences such as being demotivated and losing self-esteem. In addition, forced participation might trigger to be overwhelmed mentally that can cause burnout and high level of stress. Those who experience these feelings from early ages of their life might suffer from overcoming of anxiety and depression in their next steps of lives.

In conclusion, rather than making off-campus work mandatory, secondary schools could offer structured programs that encourage participants to do voluntary works, and ensure that they have balance between their academic and extracurricular commitments.
