Band 6+: Some people believe that school students should be required to do some free social work after the classes. Do you agree or not?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is argued that school students should be engaged in participating in unpaid community service after school hours. I partially support this viewpoint for a variety of justifiable reasons.

On one hand, I agree that volunteering has a positive impact on students’ mental health as well as on their physical condition. For instance, students who are involved in social work develop their sense of empathy, responsibility, and respect for community and society. However, when most students doing physical activities, it improves their strength, reduces stress, which also helps them to keep them in shape. Reducing stress helps them to be more concentrated in their lessons and daily life.

Volunteering also helps students gain experience, improve their communication skills, and find new friends who can assist them in their work and future life.

On the other hand, besides all advantages, it can negatively affect their academic pursuits because of a lack of free time, which could lead them fall behind other students. In addition, it can be brain burner for some students who have part-time job or family responsibilities to do after school hours. Also, they cannot make time for their hobbies, me-time and other activities. To prevent these problems, government can restrict or decrease work hours, that not interfere student’s academic performance.

In conclusion, there are huge impact in many ways for students’ mental and physical health, but it can negatively affect their academic performance. Social work hours should be controlled by government to not distract from their academic life.
