Numerous people adhere to the view that students must be involved in social work for free after the classes. I partially support this stance, and my elaborations will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
On one hand, I agree that social environment and efficiently spent time will benefit them in several ways. As the technologies have been evolving, individuals, especially youth, are squandering their time on the Internet, which often leads to isolation. By joining social work, students will socialise, enhance communication abilities with their peers. All these reasons will contribute to their overall wellbeing. Furthermore, subsequent to the sedentarily spent school day, students will get physically active, a vital factor for healthy growth.
On the other hand, I also assume that mandatory social work is unacceptable. If it is done involuntarily, it is considered exploitation of children’s labour. Individuals are going to work ceaselessly for months without any compensation. Another compelling idea is that distraction from academic priorities will be inevitable. School’s schedule is tough itself, and we will add social work. After an extensive day, they will be exhausted, both physically and mentally. Finishing the homework, getting the presentation ready, or preparing for the term exams are students’ main duties; however, they will not be able to fulfil their tasks due to reasons mentioned.
In conclusion, while I agree that participation in social work will be a cure for isolation problems and enhance their wellbeing, I also assume that this engagement will neglect their rights and hinder studies.
