The question of whether schools should devote more time to practical life skills or remain focused on academic subjects is one that deserves careful thought, since both sides raise legitimate concerns.
Many students leave school without knowing how to deal with situations they will face as adults. Skills such as managing money, organizing personal finances, or communicating in a professional environment can be extremely useful. In addition, learning these abilities at school could make young people feel more prepared and confident when they become independent.
However, academic subjects remain the foundation of education. Mathematics, science, and languages help students develop logical thinking and gain knowledge about the world. These subjects are also necessary for university studies and many careers.
Although practical skills offer clear advantages in daily life, academic subjects continue to play a key role in a student’s development. Personally, I believe schools should combine and find balance between both of these approaches so that students can be prepared for all kinds of challenges.
