It is widely believed that illustrating crimes in magazines and electronic devices should be restricted in order to prevent negative consequences. I partly agree with this viewpoint since violent and inappropriate crime-related content should be controlled, particularly when it may negatively affect children. However, completely restricting such content would be unnecessary as crime reports may be used for educational purposes.
On the one hand, crime-related content may have a negative effect on children. Since in a modern technology-driven society kids spend a significant amount of time in front of screens, they are more likely to encounter violent content, which can potentially have negative effects on their behavior, attitude, or mental development. For example, children who frequently see violent behavior in media may become less sensitive to violence. As a result, children may commit petty or serious crimes.
On the other hand, crime reports may have educational value. Crime-related news allows people to obtain knowledge about offenses against the law and provide vital instructions on how to act in these types of situations in order to protect themselves and their relatives during them. For instance, reports about scams can help people to recognize fraudulent(мошенническое) behavior and avoid becoming victims. As a result, individuals may be able to protects themselves in certain crimes by staying informed about common illegal activities.
In conclusion, although crime-related contend should be controlled and not accessible for youngsters as it may negatively affect children’s behavior, crime reports should be shown in the media to maintain public awareness.
