People have different views about a subject that is studied. While some people believe that students should be taught academic subjects only, I side with those who argue that life skills such as cooking and money management are equally important for students.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why those argue that only academic subjects should be taught at schools. The first reason is the high probability for university scholarships. For example, in some countries, people who have high marks from theoretical subjects such as math, chemistry, and language have opportunities to get scholarships from universities or other private institutions. Moreover, students with high marks from academic subjects have more job opportunities. In other words, many employers sometimes take into account students grades and GPA. For instance, in Uzbekistan, individuals who have high grades from only math and physics are being employed for accounting.
On the other hand, i believe that other skills play an important role for students. Firstly, cooking plays an important role in life. For example, students who are studying abroad sometimes cannot afford to eat outside such as restaurants, therefore, students should learn how to cook food. Additionally, work experience such as, in budgeting or accounting are crucial for students. Many universities should allow people to practice in a variety of jobs, as these practices help people to work with a team and acquire a real life experience.
In conclusion, although academic subjects play a crucial role in achieving scholarship or finding jobs, I believe that other factors such as cooking and budgeting are equally important especially, in terms of studying abroad and acquiring life experience.
