The question of whether people need to study history or not has long been a topic of debate, eliciting divergent arguments. Many individuals believe that history cannot offer anything useful, while others highlight its significance in understanding the present. I personally advocate for the latter view, as learning history might be beneficial for building a good generation.
On the one hand, when people learn history in the wrong way, they are not able to use it as a great tool for the world. Studying history only for memorizing information and data cannot be advantageous, as this does not play a crucial role for our planet, resulting in misunderstanding and misperception. Take the educational system of Uzbekistan as an example. Plenty of schools are teaching students to remember data, which led to a downgrade of education by 30% this year. In this sense, further investigation and improvement need to be taken by governments in order to understand the real meaning of the past.
Additionally, learning history may have some potential benefits like comprehending our current life and finding solutions for issues by making history easy and finding the mistakes of our ancestors and trying not to repeat them, which can result in better solutions for problems such as climate change, deforestation, to name but a few. For instance, Japan has improved its economy due to understanding the primary meaning of history, and nowadays this country has one of the top economies in the world. Therefore, history plays a pivotal role in our present life.
In my opinion, building a good society also depends on history, as teaching youngsters may lead to long-term positive effects. By giving lectures and additional subjects at school, principals could achieve results more effectively because the past can be a cornerstone of every subject. Thus, it must be a great way to build a good society.
In conclusion, although people have different perspectives regarding history, some find it unnecessary to learn history because of misunderstanding its exact meaning, whereas others see it as great for current life, like providing good solutions for global issues. I would argue that it has a lot more benefits, especially for the younger generation.
