Some people argue that hard work is the most significant factor in achieving success in life, whereas others believe that luck plays a crucial role. This issue is frequently the subject of debate. From my perspective,I strongly believe that success in life results from a combination of hard work and luck. This essay will discuss both viewpoints and examine the advantages each of them brings to society.
There are several compelling reasons for prioritizing hard work in the pursuit of one’s goals. The main reason is that every individual has their own vision of the future and personal objectives.Consequently, hard work and personal dedication are fundamental to human development. Furthermore, willpower and perseverance are central to achieving long-term success. In this sense, hard work reflects a person’s willingness and capability to persevere. For instance, there are numerous real-life cases of individuals living in poverty who have achieved remarkable results through dedication and self-discipline. As a result, many of them have earned substantial incomes and improved their standard of living through their work experience. Hard work equals success in life. This can be illustrated by numerous books based on autobiographies, real-life events, or guides on achieving success. In the literature of past centuries, which is now regarded as classical, it is frequently emphasized that personal willpower and an unwavering work ethic are among the most significant factors contributing to success. It is evident that the vast majority of successful individuals work diligently and continuously strive for improvement. Moreover, they not only invest significant effort in their work but also actively develop their self-confidence and self-esteem.
On the other hand, there is a growing consensus that luck, alongside hard work, can be a contributing factor to success. Advocates of this view argue that external circumstances, including chance events, may play a significant role in shaping individuals’ well-being and overall life achievements. If a person is in the right place at the right time, luck can influence their future. The main reason is that it has not yet been proven that hard work always leads to a happy and successful life. We know of only a small number of cases in which people, by working hard and pursuing their dreams, have achieved success, but we do not know how many people have failed despite working hard and having a clear vision of a successful future. Therefore, luck may be a key factor in success. For instance, in the modeling industry, many women and men have achieved the status of supermodels largely due to luck. There are numerous individuals who work hard to succeed in this field, but only a few are spotted by chance. This can be illustrated by empirical data and real-life examples, such as the career of the model Anok Yai. She was accidentally spotted by a photographer at a local university festival, who took a photo of her and posted it online. The photo went viral, and many people described her as ethereal. As a result of this chance event, she became one of the most sought-after and successful models. Therefore, this real-life experience demonstrates that not only hard work but also luck can play an equally important role in achieving success.
In conclusion, both views have their merits. It is traditionally believed that hard work and dedication are the keys to success; however, it is clear that pure chance and luck can also play a decisive role in achieving success. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that the combination of hard work and faith in luck can be very powerful. Relying on luck alone is clearly not enough. Personal affirmations and belief can help manifest your goals, and each person’s destiny will ultimately fall into its proper place.
