Nowadays, with the development of technology and its popularity in our daily lives, it is said that technology causes more harm to society than benefits. Even though I do agree that technology causes some negative effects on our health, it is undeniable that it has greatly improved public health and education.
On the negative side, people now rely heavily on technology to perform various tasks in their daily lives. They gradually lose the ability to solve problems on their own and some practical skills. Moreover, excessive use of technological devices such as televisions, smartphones, and tablets will directly impact our physical fitness and mental health. For instance, the risk of physical fitness and mental health problems are recorded in people who spend too much time on the Internet such as poor eyesight, obesity, stress, and depression, which can have the long-term effects to our health.
There are many positive aspects that technology brings to our society. Firstly, the use of information and communication technologies plays a crucial role in providing a more accessible learning process. In the COVID-19 pandemic, many schools in remote areas had to close because of the social inequalities and insufficient technological resources, while students in rural areas still interacted with teachers and continued studying through study apps like Zoom and Zalo. Furthermore, technological advancements have revolutionized the medical field. While there are still some serious diseases that remain incurable, technology has enabled us to treat most common illnesses effectively. In fact, due to medical advancements, doctors can now diagnose health problems with 300% greater accuracy compared to five decades ago.
In conclusion, although technology has some negative effects on our health, its advantages in education and medicine outweigh its disadvantages. By addressing its drawbacks responsibly, we can continue to benefit from technological advancements in various fields.
