While some people are convinced that technology has made lives more complicated, others argue that they have made lives easier. Although there are instances where technology has complicated our lives, I believe that technology has been an overall net positive for us.
As technology became a prominent part of many lives, a considerable number of people started experiencing difficulties, especially with the pace that techologies advanced. In fact, it has reached the point where nearly every company is dependent on technologies in one way or another. From calls being answered inconveniently by bots to job applications being sorted by AI, technology has certainly found its place in nearly everything. Most notably, elderly people are the most affected people by the complexity of technology. From an era where nearly everything was manually done to an era where everything is automatically done, elderly people usually find complexities adjusting to the complexities of new technology because of the fast-changing pace of technologies. As soon as they get used to a website’s user interface for instance, they get bamboozled that the interface has yet again changed, leaving the elderly frustrated, being unable to navigate the complexities of technologies.
On the other hand, a large number of people believe complexity and advancements go hand in hand. It is argued that facing complexities is worth it in the grand scheme of things, especially knowing that such complexities not only saves lives, but are also the reason for the current advancements and breakthroughs in the medicine sector. Those people believe while it may be true elderly people are the most vulnerable to the complexities of recent technologies, it should be noted that those people are the ones who use those complexities of technologies the most. The older the person is, the more in need he is for medications, and those complicated technologies are the reason that such medicines exist.
In conclusion, some people believe that the complexities that came with technologies have made life more difficult while others argue that technology has effectively simplified our lives.
