Landing a job recently has become a sensitive subject, since people either sacrifice their interests to get a better salary, or sacrifice a good salary to follow their orientations. Well. I believe that both are important, but the situation depends on many other factors.
Nowadays, the job market is applying pressure on individuals, making job selection a hard decision to make. For instance, you may find people who dedicate a significant amount to learning something, but at the end of the day, there are no available positions for that skill. Eventually, they accept any job offer just to secure their survival needs. Which might lead them to dissatisfaction. Meanwhile, other people make the same decision but they end up getting comfortable with what they are doing. That makes the situation vary from one person to another.
To achieve financial security, people need to get a job with a decent salary, that is what drives people to accept any job offer they get with any salary regardless of how much they will get paid sacrificing their dreams. Consequently, they will be dissatisfied with what they’re doing because of their wrong choice. Eventually trying to improve the situation when it’s too late to recheck.
On the other hand, other people choose to wait for offers that consist of what they love, Not only refusing to give up their dreams for the sake of money but also enjoying their time doing what they like. Therefore, their contribution is more innovative.
To conclude, sacrificing salary over interest always pays off. It’d rather live a certain period doing what you like and fulfilling your orientation until the situation gets better than following the money in your early career. I’m a strong believer of this proverb “You either do what you love, or love what you do”. Making it impossible to predict whether the sacrifice you made is worth or not in the future.
