The concern of well-being has sparked great controversy in a modern society. Some assert that vegetarianism is the sole path to leading a healthy lifestyle. Although this viewpoint may entail multiple positive implications concerning health and environmental aspects, admittedly, I reckon a balanced lifestyle must involve various other aspects as well such as exercising and an all-nutrient diet.
On the one hand, there are various factors encouraging the vegetarian lifestyle of many individuals. First and foremost, one of the primary reasons supporting such a lifestyle is health concerns. To be specific, some people choose to pursue a plant-based diet as they can yield considerable benefits to their physical well-being by offering nutrients such as fibers, vitamins, minerals, etc. Contrastingly, consuming meat products in excess often leads to risks of multiple cardiovascular illnesses, causing severe harm to one’s health. Second, environmental awareness is another factor behind the trend of avoiding meat consumption in contemporary society. As the general public is becoming increasingly aware of the negative impact of multiple animal slaughtering processes on the environment, some individuals have begun to follow a plant-only diet in order to curb the detrimental effects of such activities.
On the other hand, a balanced lifestyle must involve the implementation of other measures aside from solely consuming vegetarian products. One of such is the regular participation in moderate or vigorous exercises. Not only does this significantly benefit one’s physical well-being by, for instance, strengthening their bones and muscles, they are also optimal for their mental state, as evidenced by the scientifically proven dopamine released when doing physical activities, thus uplifting their mood. Besides, the consumption of a variety of nutrients from diverse sources such as meat and greens is also of paramount significance. As some types of vegetables may not contain certain nutrients that animal-based products do (namely protein, fat, calcium, etc.). Therefore, combining nutrients can better nourish the body, guaranteeing long-term growth and maintenance.
To summarize, albeit a plant-based diet is an advantageous way to achieve a healthy lifestyle, one involving various other aspects is rather the optimal choice. Nevertheless, aside from being a vegetarian for its health and environmental implications, it is more ideal that people strike a balance by additionally taking exercises and fostering the consumption of diverse foods.
