In today’s world, tourism is a thriving industry, generating billions of dollars in revenue and creating opportunities for many people across the globe. However, this growth has also had a significant impact on local people. This essay explores both facets of views and provides my opinion.
Regarding the advantages of tourism, there are a couple of benefits. One of them is job creation for people. As tourists spend their money on accommodation, transportation, dining, shopping, and various services, it stimulates local people to open new businesses and also provides unemployed people with a variety of jobs. Additionally, mass tourism also results in the development of a country. As people get richer so country, and the government can raise the money required for the nation’s advancement and development. Moreover, money is mainly spent on infrastructure projects, such as building restaurants, hotels, and theaters, which can boost the tourism industry by giving visitors more places to stay and things to do. This will also contribute to an increase in the flow of money.
Conversely, I am convinced that mass tourism has negative effects on people. Firstly, the majority of cities suffer from overpopulation and overseas visitors are making the situation worse. As the number of tourists increases, it leads to overcrowding in popular destinations, which causes congestion, strain on local resources, and a decrease in the quality of life for residents. For instance, Dubrovnik is overloaded with many tourists, which even led to migrating locals to other places, as a result of disturbing noises and congestion. Furthermore, tourism can also drive up prices for housing, food, and other essentials, making it difficult for local residents to afford to live in their own communities. Despite making money from tourism, Japan is one of such countries that suffering from price inflation and making life harder for locals.
In conclusion, tourism is undoubtedly a booming industry with numerous benefits, such as job creation and economic development. However, it is equally important to acknowledge its drawbacks, including overcrowding, resource strain, and rising costs for local residents.
