There is ongoing debate about whether the university education should be free for everyone independent on their financial status, other believe that it is obligatory to pay for their education. I strongly believe, that free education will be beneficial for society
On the one hand, education is an essential part of people’s lives, as education play a crucial role in these aspects such as self-development and career growth. Therefore, without education, people would not have the opportunity to work. In my opinion, free education would be beneficial for society, as it contributes to a vital aspects of student’s lives. As a result, it can encourage and motive student to study and presenting a better academic performance. For example in developed countries with free university education such as China, education play fundamental role and students from low-income families have access to pursue high-paying careers, which contributes to economic growth and social equality
On the other hand, making university education free for everyone may have negative consequences. Firstly, it would require significant government funding, potentially leading to higher taxes or budget cuts in other important sectors such as healthcare and infrastructure. Secondly, free education might reduce academic motivation, as some students may not take their studies seriously if they do not have to invest financially. For example, in countries where education is entirely free, dropout rates tend to be higher, as students feel less pressure to complete their degrees.
To sum up, while free education can lead to improved academic performance and broaden students’ perspectives—making higher education more accessible for those from low-income families—it may also have negative consequences for economic growth and the overall workforce.
