Some individuals think that free community services such as charity work, social work brings positive change in neighbourhood or teaching sports to toddlers, should be mandatory part of secondary school curriculum. I completely agree with the above argument.
To begin with, adding community services in the high school curriculum will provide children real world experience. These activities not only help them to learn something new outside of their formal education, but also improve their soft skills, which plays a vital role in the adulthood. Moreover, especially, working as a social worker will make them aware about existing problems in the society and may be that helps them to find cure of that problems. For example, a recent study of students in Japan indicated that students who do community services once a week perform well in real world situations compared to students who don’t.
Furthermore, performing such activities not only make child good humanbeing, but also play key role in choosing their future careers. To put in other words, collecting money for charity, teaching sports, and doing social work gives children unique experience. Sometimes performing these tasks repeatively and exploring these fields grow interest, which eventually help them to select their future careers. For instance, recently on BBC news legendary runner Usain Bolt revealed that he got interest in running because of his sport teacher who forced every students of his primary class to participate in at least one outdoor sport activity. which gradually turned into my interest and finally I chose that as my career.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that community services apart from school’s regular subjects should be part of high school’s curriculum because that helps them to become good citizen of society as well as it helps them to choose their future career.
