Many people reckon that women should serve equally in the police and military forces; however others are more drawn to the idea of such roles are unsuitable for them. While both the decisions have equally valid merits, I personally believe it proves better being based on merit rather than gender.
Admittedly, there are a number of reasons why ladies should be capable of performing military duties. Initially, as modern policing and warfare rely on intelligence, communication, and technology than physical strength, women are more likely to excel these areas in an effective way than men. For example data from the Canadian Armed Forces show that female officers achieve higher communication-efficiency scores in peacekeeping missions. This, therefore, causes fewer violent confrontations with civilians. On top of that, not only those activities can be well performed by female officers, but they also are often better at de-escalation since women use negotiation and communication before force. Consequently, it leads to more peaceful outcomes during arrests.
As much as I acknowledge the points above, I tend to believe women shouldn’t be allowed to participate in policing. One of these is that politics is stressful and demanding. As political jobs require long hours as well as constant pressure, women may find it hard to keep balance between work and life. Female, in effect, may experience burnout than their male colleagues. Furthermore, women may struggle with challenges in the most physically demanding units, where extreme endurance and strength are essential. Case in point, as US Marine Corps study found that female groups had higher injury rates as well as performed tasks more slowly than male units. This, in turn, is more likely to create some difficulties in female lives.
In conclusion while some people are in favor of being capable of performing in military activities, I am of the opinion that it is more measured rather than impulsive to keep women in suitable roles since policy demands strength and high-risk situations from them.
