There are increasingly debatable opinions towards a problem that traditional regulations of society should be adhered strictly by the young generation. Meanwhile, others state that young individuals have their right to show their own personal thoughts. Although both schools of thought have validity, I believe that a balanced approach would be the optimal solution based on the basis of nowadays culture as well as potential dedications of young people to the global development.
On the one hand, it is necessary to attach to societal norms, especially in young groups, due to the serious invasion of modern culture. In this day and age, exposure with social media tends to occur early in children. Through Facebook, Youtube or Instagram, the youth could easily access modern culture, being familiar with those behaviors. As a result, they adapt to new cultural sets and forget about their actual roots. This will lead to a severe phenomenon – the erosion in cultural identity – making their conventional societal rules being diluted due to the lack of intentional effort in maintaining those things. For example, greeting the old is one of the most beautiful behaviors in Vietnamese’s ethical tradition; however, it is being ignored by the young generation whenever they have a conversation with senior individuals because of the preference of simple communication in the world’s tendency. Thus, adhering to societal traditions must be required as an obligation in young people in order to preserve the beauty in national societal norms and make it blossomed in the world with rapid changes.
On the other hand, if the youth have their freedom in expressing thoughts, they will contribute potential approaches to the world’s development. The young generation are energetic and they have a great sense of curiosity, which makes them always have novel ideas. Thus, they could dedicate their innovative solutions to the general process of upgradation and evolution in our society. For example, from a spontaneous thought of creating a virtual place for sharing moments, Mark Zuckerberg developed a social media called Facebook, which is playing an important role in various aspects of global residents. Nevertheless, conservative notions existing in life are detering young individuals from devoting their ideal methods. Therefore, it is understandable that why the youth should be allowed to express their opinions, people must consider thoroughly about the potentials within presentations of junior individuals.
In conclusion, although both perspectives of this argument hold merits, I believe that an equitable attitude would be appropriate. Encouraging the young generation to continue their ethnic exceptional value in societal traditions as well as allowing them to present their thoughts have to be mutually adopted, along with diminishing antiquated norms. By implementing these actions, the world’s evolution and cultural conservation could be acquired simultaneously.
