In recent decades, Conforming to traditional beliefs and values has shown little interests to the youths. Although some claim that this tendency is in favor of self-expression, i believe following traditions is of more benefits.
On the one hand, it is understandable why having the freedom to express oneself is of great importance. Nowadays, homogeneity has been a pervasive issuses across borders. As globalization and consumerism enter the markets, it is inevitable that people using the same set of clothings, products, and even watching the same TV programs. The invasion of this uniform phenomenon necessitate innovative and unique individuals to stand up and make differences, if not, cultural values, beliefs, and assumptions of a country will likely to be diluted.
On the other hand, it is unwise to forgo societal norms. In societal and personal level, the differences of cultures across contries shape their citizens’ behavioural structures and belief systems, if the youths abandon the cultural values of their homeland, they will fail to acknowledge and pay tribute to their past generations. Additionally, poor ethnic-identity idividuals are likely to be less willing to contribute to the home-country as a result of traditional loss. For example, Vietnamese educational systems always incorporate historical and traditional lessons which serve as mediums for instillation of patrotism and foster sense of cultural identity, which in turn, secure a well-equipped civilized young generation.
