Choosing a profession is one of the most pivotal stages in a person’s life. Some individuals pursue jobs that align with their dreams, while others may work solely for financial stability. It is essential for young people to select their desired profession rather than settling for a job they do not genuinely want. In this essay, I will discuss several reasons for this perspective and present my own opinion.
On one hand, statistics indicate that individuals who work in fields they are passionate about are more likely to succeed than those who work solely for financial gain. The primary requirement for success in a beloved job is hard work, which is much easier when one enjoys their daily responsibilities. For instance, Taylor Swift, the first billionaire whose fortune comes exclusively from music, has passionately pursued her craft since childhood. With the support of her parents, she became a global phenomenon, and her love for music has empowered her to persist tirelessly without losing motivation.
On the other hand, young people often expect to achieve success quickly in their chosen fields. When reality does not meet their expectations, they can become frustrated, which negatively impacts their mental health and leads to self-doubt in other areas of their lives, ultimately diminishing their confidence. Therefore, it may be more beneficial for young people to adopt a realistic approach in the beginning, rather than setting themselves up for disappointment later.
From my perspective, there is even medical evidence suggesting that individuals find happiness through pursuing their passions. The release of dopamine, often referred to as the ‘reward hormone,’ tends to be higher in those who enjoy their jobs. This not only enhances emotional well-being but also positively influences the immune system. Consequently, many people assert that those who work in their dream jobs tend to live longer than those who do not.
In conclusion, there are both advantages and disadvantages to choosing professions based on personal passion. However, I strongly support the pursuit of one’s dream job.
