Some people decide to reside from consuming meat or fish in the belief that it benefits themselves and the whole word. I believe that this approach is an uprising yet particularly faulty trend therefore raises many concerns.
Firstly, meat and fish are excellent providers of a wide range of healthy nutrients. The former is known to be an exceptionally great source of natural fibres, protein and collagen, while the latter is an excellent way of providing the human body with vitamins, particularly omega-3. A clear example is that our ancestors have survived by fishing and hunting, so they have consumed the right amount of minerals and fibre from these sources to continue to further thrive in the world.
Secondly, the activities of hunting and fishing in the past centuries have given nature a great deal of control over the population of each species. Although the world has evolved since then, and animals bred for the food industry are often kept on farms, the issues with extinction, endangerment and the destruction of natural habitats remain unresolved. Moreover, if the reduction of consumption of animal-related products was the sole solution to the problem, it would have been an earlier discovery, and the problem would have been resolved before it even existed.
To conclude, by refraining from eating fish or meat, individuals do not enact changes in the way those are processed therefore their aspirations to that might be less impactful, rather significantly damaging their health as withdrawing themselves from the sources of natural nutrients with the utmost importance.
