In this contemporary era, there are increasingly conflicting ideas about whether the construction of new buildings in metropolitan cities should be controlled by the government or by the the owner of that construction. In this essay, both viewpoint will be closely analyzed before presenting the reasons why I gravitate towards the latter perspective.
On the one hand, it is crucial to recognize the vital roles of those who finance the constructing project. These owners should be encouraged to freely design of their buildings as soon as they do not break the policy of the cities. Given that when they acknowledge the positive potential of shopping mall and food court, they might optimize the design with strange and attractive skycrapers that different with other buildings. This, in turn, leading to the variety of entertainment and increasing the prestige to the customers. In long-term, they may facilitate the economy development and foster the foreign investment of that city.
On the other hand, it is understandable why some advocate the notion of government regulations in building facilities due to the characteristics and scale of that cities. Those cities with numerous kind of skycrapers should be advocated to conduct construction, especially new kind of amenities, targeting at attracting more individuals from various regions and increasing the global appearance to the world. Furthermore, due to the high scale of the area, building construction need to be suit with the density of population, given that with high level of residents, the owner of project modify the size of their buildings to offer enough accomodation and public space. Hence, it is a necessity for the authority to be in charge of building construction followed by the prevailing appeal and the convenience of the inhabitants.
In conclusion, while it is justifiable that individuals who own the construction of a building have right to design whatever they want, the responsibilities of the government in regulating these projects should not be overlooked.
