Some people prefer to live in countries with hot climates. However, others like more a lifestyle of cold regions.
In fact, the largest number of people on Earth lives on the territories where hot weather prevails. In warm climate zones are such densely populated countries, for example, China, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil, Ethiopia, Egypt, Congo and many others. There residents often prefer an active lifestyle, spending a lot of time outdoors and participating in various types of activities, such as street sport, beach activities and walking. Besides, hot climates can help create more friendly and positive social mood by positively affecting people’s well-being and promoting feelings of joy and optimism. Furthermore, sunny weather promotes to have a high flow of tourists, due to their resort opportunities and favorable conditions for agriculture, as the temperature allows for a variety of crops to be grown year-round. As a result of warm climate, these countries often have a unique culinary culture based on the use of fresh fruits and vegetables, which attracts many people. Nevertheless, life on the hot territories has a lot of disadvantages such as air conditioning costs, drought and limited access to water in many regions in Africa and Asia and high intensity of solar radiation that can lead to a sunburn and skin cancer. Moreover, extreme heat can be a source of discomfort and even a health hazard, especially during the hot summer months, so I would never live in such climate because I do not tolerate hot well.
Significantly fewer people live in countries with really cold weather. There are such countries as Canada, Russia, Greenland and Scandinavia region. Cold climate conditions provide additional opportunities. For instance, there are skiing, snowboarding, ice skating and other winter sports for active lifestyle, which play an important role in culture of these countries. Additionally, traditions associated with winter holidays such as Christmas, New Year and carnivals are common in them. Moreover, living in the cold lands can have medicine benefits. Some research suggest that frosty weather may have positive healthy effect by promoting the development of the immune system and reducing inflammation. Furthermore, for many years the top three places in the list of the happiest countries have been taken by cold countries Finland, Denmark and Iceland. However, these territories have also disadvantages such as heavy snowfall, limited availability of fresh food, seasonal depression and heating costs, especially in regions where winters are long and cold. Nevertheless, it seems to me that life in cold regions much more attractive, so far as I am one of those people who prefer cozy winter atmosphere, warm cloth and freezing wind, and I am very rarely feel cold.
Overall, both type of climate have advantages and disadvantages. Life in hot countries depends on positive social mood, a high flow of tourists and a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. While living in cold countries provide winter activities, positive healthy effect and also can be much happier due to the official statistics about happiness level. So I think that preferences any type of climate depend primarily on people’s individual characteristics and values.
