Nowadays, there is an increasing debate about which subjects should be prioritised in school,whether history should take the priority or science and technology have a greater role to play in shaping the future. Both arguments are valid,which will be discussed before giving my personal opinion.

While history teaches learners about the important wars, revolutions, and achievements that have taken place in the past and affected modern societies, this can indeed help young people not to make the same mistakes made by earlier generations, learning from their successes and failures. Moreover, it really helps students think critically because students are supposed to look at different points of view and causes of events. So support for history includes the belief of its leading role in forming informed and responsible citizens.

On the other hand, many people argue that science and technology are more significant, especially in this changing and competitive world. Such sciences as physics, biology, and computer science bring about medical discoveries and technological inventions. Because modern societies depend on innovation to solve all sorts of global problems, including climate change and health issues, these subjects provide students better career opportunities. As a result, investing more in the education of science and technology is needed for future development.

History and technological subjects are both important, in my opinion. While History helps to preserve our cultural knowledge, the demands of the world require young people to be well prepared for scientific and technological challenges. A balanced education system in which History remains a core subject but more resources are directed toward science-related fields is the most advantageous approach.

But in the end, history instructs the students on the lessons from the past, while progress and the needs of the future are solved by science and technology. Hence, the schools can teach both, but with an emphasis on scientific aspects, given their relevance to today’s society.
