Band 5+: Some people say that economic development is necessary to reduce poverty in the world. Others say that economic growth should be stopped as it damages the environment. Discuss both views

Several individuals suppose that the growth of economy plays the essential role in mitigating the poverty rate all over the world while others argue that it may have some downsides for the environment. This essay will shed light on the both of views.

On the one hand, it is undeniable that the economic advancement is making huge contributuion to reduce the poverty rate. They assert that there are numerous merits have shown during the developing period of every region such as job creation, higher income levels and higher living standards. To explain, companies will have higher demand for labors if they want to expand their business, leading to more opportunities for citizens with more attractive salaries. By generating income, the financial stablility are enable the needy to cover the expenditure that raise the quality of their life. Moreover, economic growth can provide the goverments with the necessary tax revenue to invest in infrastructure and social weathfare. For example, the more fund is allocated, the more public places such as hospitals, educational insitutions and museums are innovated, which arr cucial for fostering equitable society.

On the other hand, the environmental degration is an alarming issue as a negative impact of economic development period. From agriculture to industrial regions, people often have to face with some problems such as deforestation, depletion of natural resources, ultimately threatening to the ecological balance. For instance, forests and fields have to be relocated or even replaced by industrial zones consequencing the shortage of green trees, one of the primary reason makes the climate change worsen. Additionally, with the mushrooming of industrial zones, the environmential pollution in residential areas surrounding tends to be more serious. Particularly, several factories emit the waste water or poisonous gases into enrironment without process everyday, that make the pollution get worsen gradually.

In conclusion, while the economic growth enable society to reduce the poverty, it is opposite to the planet due to seriously environmental problems. Therefore, the policy makers must strive for a balance appoach that enhances the economy yet addresses environmental concerns concurrently to ensure the substainable development.
