Some people would argue that parents should control their children’s choices in life, while others believe that children is able to choose a preferance from a young age. In my opinion, both views are correct to some extent as sometimes a gaurdian or parent should be in charge depending on this situation.
As time changes, the new generations are changing and parenting methods is changing as well. Many young parents believe that children should be able to choose what they want early and it will positively affect a child’s confident and build a trust relationship with their parents. In addition many new schools of parenting encourages this behavior due to its many beneficial effect on the toddlers in the future. For example, nowadays children at kindergarten are asked about their opinion and tought how to express their feelings and able to decide what they want from an early age, this will be reflected on their future character as will.
On the other hand, many believed, especillay the older generations that parents know well and should be in charge of their toddler’s lives. Moreover, as parents age and have a more experience in life make them more wiser and able to see the best chance for their own children. This method of parenting was inherited from grandparents to the parents for many years in many countries, as in the middle east or eastren Asia nations. For example, a child could not know what is best for them when choosing schools or who to be friends with as a parent will direct them to what they know better for their children future, even marriage and colleges studies later on.
To conclude, some people encourage children to be more engaged and control of their choices to raise children who are more confident and able to express opinion in the future, while others think that parent are wiser and know the best interest for their toddlers. I think children should be involved but with some limitations of controls like choosing their schools.
