In this contemporary era, from initial years of learning till tertiary education a number of hours are dedicated towards theoretical knowledge rather than improving practical skills. This essay will elucidate my agreement in detail over subsequent paragraphs, along with reasoned conclusion.
First and foremost reason is that, learners are encouraged to study more than doing experiments at their own and perform well. Many institutes follows the traditional memorize -and-pass approach, give less importance to experiments and asks students to memorize theoretical concepts and get better grades to maintain their reputation among other schools. For instance, according to a recent survey round 80 percent students are getting graduated every year owing to that fact they focus on theoretical concepts, but most of them are unemployed due to lack of practical aspects of study. Hence, above example vividly illustrates my support towards the notion.
Secondly, In most of the cases schools do not have proper laboratories, lab assistant and equipment to provide practical skills to pupils. Owing to the fact this trend is antiquated most of schools are not concerned about this whether they have proper laboratory equipment and students have access to these facilities unless they are getting good results, even they make timetable in such a way that there will be lower amount of practical and more theory sessions. To exemplify, in my high schools, there were five theory session for physics class and one lab session over a week, most of time students used to forget what they did in last practical period and that sync between theory and practical study used to be broken. Thus, aforementioned reason states my favor toward this trend.
To recapitulate, it is axiomatic why I am firm believer that schools are investing more number of hours on traditional way of teaching rather than focusing on practical aspects of study which in turns help them to earn bread and butter and future and have hands-on experience on things to have bright career.
