In recent years, there is a growing debate on whether extraction of valuable resources still has a negative influence on the surrounding regions and leads to the fights of different nations.In my opinion there are a lot of problems that caused by the mining of valuable resources.
Firstly, it is important to consider that natural resources have always been a major source of wealth. Since financial power plays a central role in global governance, many individuals and nations seek to control these raw materials, sometimes even by force. For instance, many analysts argue that oil was a key factor behind the United States’ invasion of Iraq in 2003. Although the official reason was to eliminate weapons of mass destruction, control over Iraq’s vast oil reserves was widely seen as an underlying motive.+
Secondly, one significant reason why I agree is that while mining the finite resources nearby regions and nature are damaged by some kind of machines and air pollution from them. An extration requires a serious number of technique that produce smoke, toxins and pollute the air, leading to environmental degradation. Furthermore, some residential areas become unlivable. For example, due to coal mining in the east of Ukraine the village named Kremenivka was destroyed and people from there had to move to other cities.
In conclusion, the extraction of valuable natural resources often leads to serious consequences, both politically and environmentally. It not only fuels conflicts between nations seeking economic power but also causes lasting damage to nearby regions and ecosystems. Therefore, I strongly believe that while resource extraction remains economically important, its negative impacts must not be overlooked.
