Nowadays some individuals believe that if people would like to broaden their minds they should travel abroad. At the same time, others say that due to the fact that the humanity are living in the computer age, they can learn new pieces of information also only by using technologies. Despite the fact that both statements are reasonable, I am on the second’s side. I am going to discuss both points of view and highlight my opinion about this delema.
Digital era allows people to improve their knowledge in different fields and make new friends without visiting new places. Individuals may enjoy looking at the most picturesque landscapes lying on their beds as scientists keep creating cutting-edge gadgets, like VR, which assist people to have almost real feelings of being there. Hence, they visit the other part of the world even they cannot afford it in their real lives and develop their mindsets.
Nevertheless, in spite of the fact that digitals provide a plenty of different opportunities to learn about other countries, real visiting and involving in the local community cannot be compared with photos or videos, which are offered by the internet. Since only practical experience may help to understand representatives of other nationalities and their traditions, which are rich in unique moments and stories. In-person conversations, which include both verbal and non-verbal communications, can play a role in learning of the local mode of living. As it is not only about some geographical or statistical pieces of data but also about feelings, which individuals may get only by traveling.
In conclusion, although people have been developing technologies in order to make people’s lives easier, when they do not need travel if they have a desire to gather information. Some things cannot be replaced, and one of which is travelling as only by physically being there they may be fully understand representatives and their traditions.
