Whether young children should be divided into different groups according to their academic performance has been hotly debated in recent years. Some people argue that studying by different groups helps enhance efficiency, while the majority, including myself, firmly believe that letting children with different abilities study together may not be the most efficient approach, but the most necessary approach.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that the overall curricular efficiency and speed can be significantly improved by letting intelligent students study together. However, the negative side of this pattern of studying is also obvious. Due to the cruel competition between these young learners, the correlation between each other may be extremely intense, significantly impacting their abilities to cooperate and help each other, which may indirectly influence their personal development in the future.
On the other hand, a modern developed society must ensure that everyone has the same and equal opportunity to quality education. Having children study separately by their academic grades may lead to a wide social division, making the issue of educational resources gap between different areas and different families even more severe. A mixed class of different children with different abilities guarantees the diversity of a regular class. This pattern of studying is also beneficial for children’s cognitive development and helps them develop the ability to cooperate with people from different cultural and educational backgrounds.
In conclusion, while some individuals believe that intelligent students should be taught separately and given special courses, having children from different backgrounds with different academic performance taught together holds greater importance. It ensures the basic social justice and long-term development of our future generation.
