In the world today, there are some perspectives that governments should prioritise tackling environmental pollution and housing to prevent illness and disease. I totally agree with this view because these measures address the root causes of many diseases.
One of the main reasons why governments should focus on environmental pollution is that clean air and safe water are the core foundations of public healthcare. Clean air creates a fresh environment, helping to reduce the prevalence of respiratory diseases such as asthma and lung cancer. At the same time, safe water provides a reliable supply for the community and decreases the risk of infectious diseases. If governments invest in cleaner energy sources and effective waste management systems, the population will be exposed to fewer health hazards. As a result, the quality of community life and public healthcare improves significantly.
In addition, improving housing conditions is another effective way to prevent disease. Adequate housing enables people to maintain a healthier lifestyle because living in a safe and comfortable home can reduce stress and anxiety and enhance both mental and physical well-being. Children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable to diseases caused by poor housing; therefore, improved housing helps protect these groups from illnesses. This demonstrates that better housing creates a safer and healthier living environment while reducing stress and anxiety.
In conclusion, I strongly agree that governments should prioritise environmental protection and better housing because these measures address the underlying causes of illness, improve citizens’ well-being, and reduce long-term pressure on healthcare systems.
