It is argued that historical events have almost nothing to educate us about, although other people assume that studying the past can help us better understand the present and predict the future. Even though many individuals believe that history always repeats itself and we need to prevent some future mistakes, people back then lived in a different decade than us, so studying about them is useless. However, I tend to think that we need to always remember our ancestors and study about their lives.
On the one hand, students are studying history at school on a daily basis, due to the fact that it is important for them to remember all the horrible events that happened before. By learning about famous warriors and captains’ mistakes and horrendous behaviours, future leaders could prevent wars and conflicts. For instance, the famous German leader named Hitler was the reason why the holocaust started, by knowing that future generations would understand why being racist is disgusting and shameful.
On the other hand, people who lived in the previous centuries were surrounded by a completely different atmosphere. Many of them started wars just because they could not communicate with each other and explain their side of the argument. Everybody’s mental health was unstable. For example, a lot of women were accused of doing witchcraft and were then burned alive for that, due to the fact that nobody wanted to figure out their situation and this is something that could not happen right now, because of all the laws.
To conclude, In my humble opinion, learning about different historical events and famous individuals is significant, but you need to keep in mind that they existed in a different decade.
